Fas420 second ever grow

Post by fas420 »

Hi guys, very new grower here after my first grow was a success I thought I'd actually keep a Diary of the second one (also i was told to lol).

Setup -
3x4 Floorspace 7ft Height (currently have a shelf about 6.5 ft up)
Fabric pots with Canna Professional Plus premix coco coir
Canna A+B , Rhizotonic, Cannazym, PK & Boost ( I also have calmag but apparently the canna professional plus doesnt need this unless reused, opinions? )
Cheapo ph gear (will upgrade)
1x Viparspectra 900w led + 1x Viparspectra 600w led
6" extractor fan & carbon filter (Ram brand ??)
2x small recirc fans

Aim-
At first i grew 5 plants under 900w and got good decent results for a first grow, they all made it, smoke was amazing but yield wasn't the greatest. For this grow after my reading i decided to experiment with a sea of green method to optimise my limited floorspace. The last grow was in 3 gallon pots, these will be in 1 gallon pots. I currently have 6 x Purple Haze, 3 x Glueberry OG. The idea was to grow them straight 12/12 from seed and as soon as a plant is ready its instantly replaced, the second grow room shall be a proper photosensitive grow with full veg cycle. At this point I'm basically experimenting to find what works best in my situation.

Progress-
So far all seeds have been germinated and potted, yesterday all 3 Glueberry popped their heads and today the rest.
Hand watered and water ph'd to 5.8 every time (i hope)

So a little update. The 600w has been pulled, the 900 is more than sufficient for my grow space. 6 Purple Haze have all properly popped alongside the 3 Glueberry OG.

PH 5.8 - Still currently using a Fleabay Wiz Khalifa black n yellow special, will order Bluelab PH + EC pens

Baby Feed per Liter:
A + B 2ml each
Rhizo 2
Zym 2.5

Basically I don't think this run will produce much at all as i was misguided and bought auto beans and i put them in small 1 gallon pots. I have heard autos DO NOT like being moved to bigger pots, is there any truth to this?
Would it even be worth my while putting them in bigger pots? Since they're only babies I've cranked the light way up so i don't fry them. Next run i think I'll get some CFLs for this stage but so far they're in good health.

Any opinions or advice as to how i might maximize the potential of this grow? So far I am pretty much regretting autos but maybe I'll be proved wrong, I certainly hope so! Plus it's early days yet.

Hello mate,

You are correct, autos dont like being moved, its not a massive issue while young, but doing it later on will slow them up a bit, given a auto is on a time frame thats something you want to avoid.

As far as maximizing the potential, heavy training is a no go for the same reason you dont want to slow em. They are now on a schedule. Some guys will top an auto, ive done it with no ill effect, this is usually done after the 4th true node, this will give you a nice opportunity to apply some lst as well. These are haze, they will more than likely go for a good stretch, try limit this with lst. Keep em nice and level as they go into flower. Dont make the mistake of more nutes is more bud. Go by colour and let the plant tell you what it wants.

Great advice mate cheers. Regarding pots I think I'll just let these run their course then and plant the next run in bigger pots then just go back to reg fem seeds. I will top them and apply some lst then.

If your going to leave em in there keep an eye as they may struggle later on, 11l is normally the minimum in soil, one of the coco lads may no more.

Also look into airpots for next run, you wont regret using em.

How are you watering your plants? I can see they are just sat on the floor. Where do you collect the runoff? Making a frame for them to sit on will be the best way for you managing the daily waste runoff.

Every feed i mix fresh and hand water them with a basic plastic watering can.
I have these square run off trays I use they just weren't in the picture as i had just taken them aside and cleaned them.

However the frame is a great idea would make maintenance a lot smoother so that will be done shortly for sure!

*I've also ordered another roll of mylar even if only to smarten the room up a bit. Horrendous rush job*

I heard last night the canna grow guide which I'm basically following is quite a heavy feed, sounds about right to me as the very first grow I followed it like gospel and nearly killed one of the girls. Really had to dial it back to bring her back. Would greatly appreciate any knowledge on this as every feed i make I'm not exactly 100% confident in it. Also is there a cheaper alternative to Canna Boost, was about to order 5L but at £170 I thought best to hold off and ask around.
