Re: Mentor Request Thread
Hey buddy, so I would say watch the heat. Seedlings do like heat but not a lot but also does anerobic bacteria and pathogens. This could very well be what killed your last batch.Thebergbuds wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 9:26 pmHello!
Looking for a patient mentor as I’m at lost in growing from seed.
I live in Massachusetts so the weather now is great, (it can get super hot but humidity is good)
I grew mowie-wowie, ob1 and GS Cookie in the past but I did it from plant and the plants were big enough to plant in my garden.
Because of covid19 I couldn’t find a friend with plants this spring so I decided to grow them from seeds.
Last month I tried Germinating 6 seeds using the wet paper towel method, in warm place. 5 of them germinated but before the tiny plant came out the shell they started to die.
I tried different things: less/more water, direct sunlight/dark. Etc.
They died. Rip.
I just received some seeds I was waiting for so I just put them in a wet paper towel inside a black plastic container And left it in my kitchen as it is the warmest place in my house right now.
(My husband loves his ac).
Should I give them some light or keep them in the dark?
Do I give them too much water and that’s why they died?
Should I just wait until the plant comes out the shell to plant them?
So many questions so little time.
I really, REALLY need these seeds to do well as I need at least 2 plants ready by late fall so I can make oil for my disabled son. (2 plants usually lasts him 10-12 months)
Let me know if you can help! Thank you!
I would suggest you pop the wet paper towel in a zip-lock bag and just put it in a draw in the kitchen or somewhere dark. As long as it stays room temperature you're golden.
Don't leave them in the towel too long because if the roots start to sprout root hairs, they can start to bed into the towel and you can end up damaging the tap root.
The paper towel should be saturated.

So when the seed first opens up, a little bit of the white tap root will start to stick out. You want to plant it at that point. If you leave it until the leaves or even to much root comes out they will have issues. I’m not sure if that’s when you went or not tho lolThebergbuds wrote: ↑Wed Jul 01, 2020 10:14 pmI’m sorry! That is exactly what I was talking about. Then I’m guessing my last batch died because I waited too long to plant them and at that point keeping the paper towel too wet cause them to rot.
Thanks for the advice.
This time as soon as I see the little white roof I will plant them.
So yesterday they went in the paper towel. How many days approximately do you think for them to sprout.

I find if you soak in a cup for a day before they go into towel they should pop within around 24 hours :)

This has worked 7 out of 7 times for me so far - in a glass of water until they drop - then pop in a wet kitchen towel on top of the fridge for 24 hours - root shoot always shows then stick em in some rock wall cubes and jobs a good one.Thejokerjosh59 wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2020 1:45 pmI find if you soak in a cup for a day before they go into towel they should pop within around 24 hours :)

Re: Mentor Request Thread
Hello everyone, as i mentioned previously, my first plants were a huge failure. Thats why I need a mentor please. What I have is,
-120 cm x 120 cm grow tent
-20 liter pots
-amnesia lemon seeds
-1200W LED grow lights
-A very nice and ultra silent fan and carbon filter
-A mini fan
-Advanced Nutrients Sensi Coco A+B, B-52, Voodoo Juice, Big Bud Coco and Overdrive.
I want to get at least 500 grams from 4 plants. If someone can help me achieve this, I will really appreciate.
Also, I will be buying whatever equipment my mentor tells me to buy. HPS, a new fan, whatever item or nutrient. He/she just needs to name it and i'll buy.
I actually believe and want to try hydroponics this time, but whichever medium my mentor chooses is fine by me. I'll go with that.

There some really really good Hydro Growers here if hydro is a route you are looking to go down.
I'm a coco LED grower, I've only been growing for 9 months and find coco nice and easy but thats because the idea of hydro seems really complex but prob isn't LOL.
Whoever said the best things in life are free blatantly grew their own pot
