Re: GT's Winter mixed strain run
Weekly update – Day 22 of flower
Things are running smooth. Nothing much, of change, to note. Feeding every other day at 1.5/1.6 EC. Plants are all using about a liter per day. I did back down the wattage of the lights as our outdoor temps have increased and I'm trying to keep my temps down this run. Lights are now at 300 watts. I may increase/decrease as the outdoor ambient temperature changes. I've decided that I would sacrifice wattage to keep temps down on this run.
Yesterday I fed the plants and did a thorough leaf strip. These are four very different plants. The Strawberry Gelatti is the tallest and I have the other plants set on a box or bucket to try and keep them all in the lights equally. Rucu Cucu is the fullest and has the most bud sites. Strawberry Gelatti is tall and skinny with not a lot of buds. Runtz Gum (the runt) is still tiny but looks okay. The one thing that stands out is the diameter of the stalks on Bruce Banner. Without measuring I'd say that they are at least 50% thicker than any of the others. Overall things are looking okay.

Re: GT's Winter mixed strain run
I've played around with topping, super cropping, training clips to see what will result. This is one of my successes. The Rucu Cucu got topped and then each new branch got topped again. It came out with four beautifully formed main stalks. Here is a close up of the area topped and the 4 main buds.

Re: GT's Winter mixed strain run
Weekly update - Day 29 of flower
When I decided to show my grows here I made up my mind that I would show "warts and all". Trying to hide problems doesn't help anyone. So here is my "oh shit" moment. Hopefully someone will see this and not make my mistakes.
I have been having issues with plants herming. I had one on each of the last two grows and two on my current grow. Quite frankly this has been haunting my dreams. I have racked my brain about it. I've read a ton of articles, watched videos, talked to my growmies and finally decided that I needed to start from square one to diagnose this. So, square one was go into tent with lights out and look for light leaks. What a joke! I was shocked when I saw the light. It was coming from my tower fan which has a green indicator light at the top front. I had taped paper over it and figured it was good. Not even close. It was like the light projected onto the paper and was even brighter, if that's possible. I replaced the paper with cardboard and now I can even see my nose in the tent.
Back to the grow. The second plant to herm was Strawberry Gelatti. So now I have three pants left. Feeding every other day until I get runoff. Plants are using about a liter a day. Same nutrients: Advanced Nutrients Base (Micro, Grow & Bloom), Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy, Big Bud and Rhino Skin. I'm also adding a small amount of CalMag Plus and Hydroguard. For microbes I'm using Great White & Mammoth P. I've been alternating these every other feed. Ph is steady at 5.9 and EC at 1.6. I do adjust the temperature of my feed to 70F (water from tap is 55F).

Re: GT's Winter mixed strain run
hi gt thats one great reason i prefer drobes to tents its much less prone to light leaking in/out but the little led lights can only do damage i think to close proximity plants and often find herms now in breeders seeds due to morons crossing known sexual deviant genetics be used in breeding, its abhorant to nature esp with feminised seeds also i find many modern strains have sprouting of nannas on the tip buds by time they are at peak flower stage and whilst this is not an obvious huge problem it is if like me you have several differing age of flowering going on they often end up getting a few seedsdue to the herm pollen we fail to see/remove.
only few truly stable photoperiod fems ive found and imo we best hang on for dear life to them as newer seeds stock sucks ime, gone back to just barneys farm, hope they stay good!good luck

Re: GT's Winter mixed strain run
Do you know ive never had an hermie from fem beanz, touch wood and all that doo-dah, but yes my room has some light leaks too. I suppose it depends how much light is needed for it to cause these hermie problems or maybe ive been real lucky, prolly a bit of both hey.
Grow looks great Grumpy
